Our Company History
Bringing Color To Life for Three Generations
As young boys, Mission Hills brothers Michael and Patrick Chism learned the skills of painting under the apprenticeship of their father Milton Chism, himself a San Diego house painter since the 1940s. While they finished their military service and started college, the brothers continued to hone their craft working for the legendary La Jolla contractor, Otto Welp. Upon the sudden death of Mr. Welp, they branched out on their own and in 1982 founded Chism Brothers Painting.
Since its inception, Chism Brothers Painting has strived to become the leading residential painting company in San Diego by consistently providing exceptional quality and dependable service. The company prides itself on employing only those of exemplary character and training them as craftsmen, time and again exceeding the quality and service expectations of their discerning clientele.

Our hiring process consists of a careful interview, a written painting exam, a character evaluation and a drug test. We would like to give recognition to the outstanding job that Dave and Victor from Chism Brothers painting did on our stucco finished house detached garage and fence this spring. They worked diligently from first thing in the morning to late in the afternoon. They showed incredible attention to detail. Things like removing the hose reel when they painted the garage and then replacing it after they had painted that wall. The shrubbery next to the walls was carefully moved away and not touched by paint. After the job was completed they were meticulous in their attention to cleaning up. We were extremely pleased with the product and would recommend them, based on our experience with out hesitation.
