Meet Our Team
Our Strength is in Our People
Chism Brothers is not just about painting—we are about people. We value our clients and our employees as individuals. We look forward to growing true friendships with our clients, and we wanted to give you the opportunity to get to know each of us.
As a fun way of getting to know them, we asked the employees, “If you were to describe yourself as a Chism Brothers body part, what would you be, and why?”

James
Detail-oriented and trustworthy, James truly enjoys helping clients to have a hassle-free, positive experience. In his eighth year with Chism Brothers, he is our estimator, and he puts his 20 years of painting expertise to good use, seeing every project through the eyes of a craftsman. He is happily married, with one child, and when he is not working he can often be found with a tennis racquet or Airsoft gun in hand, enjoying the great outdoors. He also enjoys pursuing “anything and everything analog!”
Chism Brothers "body part":
The opposable thumb; the thumb separates us from the animals. It’s what allows us to use tools.
John
While he excels as a craftsman and has more than a quarter-century of painting experience, what John enjoys most about his work is interacting with clients. Faithful, honest and caring, he is an excellent Project Manager. In his four years with Chism Brothers, he has always striven to set an example of hard work. John is married, and in his free time he enjoys fishing and sports—especially football!
Chism Brothers "body part":
The heart – The heart is strong and hard working and gives its all. It tries real hard to give the body the best it’s got. I like to think I always give the company my all. To me our company has many hearts working together.
Bernie
An artist at heart, Bernie loves his job as a CBP Painter. In his four years with Chism Brothers, he has shown himself patient and detail-oriented, seeking excellent results and a job well-done. Bernie enjoys working with customers to provide honest, humble service, and finds satisfaction in every aspect of his career. In his time off he loves drawing and painting portraits, and spending time with his wife.
Chism Brothers "body part":
The heart; there is a joy in being at work.
Marty
Though he describes himself as “simple” and “nothing special,” Marty shows himself extraordinary in his loyalty and sincerity. Married, with four grown children and a growing group of grandchildren, he has provided 25 years of excellent service to Chism Brothers. There are few men as truly humble as Marty, and his sincere smile and pleasant nature make him a favorite with everyone. As a Project Manager, he finds gratification in creatively completing difficult tasks and completing a job with efficiency. Marty’s excellent character is closely related to his greatest hobby and interest: he loves to study God’s Word.
Chism Brothers "body part":
Foot and hand. I try to go and do what needs to be done where I am sent.
Paul
As our newest Painter, Paul brings great customer relations and a positive, hard-working attitude to our crew. Active and creative, Paul can often be found surfing or pursuing other outdoor hobbies, but he also takes pleasure in reading and cooking. And whether he stands back to look at a freshly painted wall or to smell a new dish, he takes pride in great results.

The Hair… I’m still growing!
Veirnon
Though he still considers himself the rookie of our team, Veirnon has worked with us for half a decade. His cheerful smile is famous, and he loves the problem-solving challenges involved in a detailed job. He describes himself as silly and happy, and he brings this joy to a wife and two children, as well as to our customers. If you ever see him without a brush in one hand and a paint bucket in the other, he will likely have a fishing rod in the brush hand and tackle box in the other! “Everything I know about painting, I have learned at Chism Brothers.”
Chism Brothers "body part":
The foot; I have the least painting experience!
Troy
In every area of his life, Troy is a strategist and a worker. In his 5 years with Chism Brothers, he has become a Project Manager, striving to orchestrate every job to prevent injury or property damage, and placing a high value on caring for customers. In his off-hours Troy continues to shoulder the burdens of others, serving the elderly and disabled of his community with household chores and championing the rights and care of veterans and active-duty military. Married, with three children, his Christian faith underlies every aspect of his life, and his fanaticism for the Steelers fills the rest! “A painter’s finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good paint job and stands with a gleaming customer in the front yard, admiring the project….VICTORIOUS!” (Vince Lombardi, modified)
Chism Brothers "body part":
I’m a shoulder, strong, strong-willed and competent. I can be counted on, an carry a heavier-than-usual load for extended lengths of time when needed.
Carolyn
With enthusiasm and humor for her beautiful children, her life and her work, Carolyn is a joy to interact with. She has been our Office Manager for five years, and when a new customer calls or a new project begins, hers is the first voice they will hear. Carolyn loves her job, and cheerfully sums it up with the phrase, “It is never boring!” When she steps away from her computer and phone for the evening, she loves the calm: books, yard work, movies, and general “puttering” are her favorite pastimes. “I really love working with our customers. They are such a wonderful, diverse group of people; I enjoy each of them.”
Chism Brothers "body part":
I feel that I am the ears. I [enjoy] meeting our customers and finding out what they need from Chism Brothers. I also listen to what the gentlemen in the field need to help their projects run smoothly. It is my job to put the 2 sources of information together to provide the best Service.
Victor
Calm and consistent, Victor sees himself as a servant. His favorite aspect of painting is taking something in bad shape and making it beautiful, but his favorite part of his work is “seeing people pleased and happy.” He has a great eye for detail, and he is trustworthy in every respect. Married, with two children, Victor has been a dependable employee for eight years. Despite his love for his job, he is happy to trade work boots for soccer cleats when he gets the chance.
Chism Brothers "body part":
I’m a hand… The hand is the one you use to serve something, or sometimes it’s what you use to help others. I just love to be a servant and helping in any way that I can.
Dave
Balancing a cheerful, light-hearted attitude with excellent loyalty and dependability, Dave is a wonderful asset to Chism Brothers. He loves making people happy and helping them in their homes, and in his twelve outstanding years as a CBP painter, he has done this countless times. Once the day’s paint is washed off his hands, Dave enjoys spending time with his wife and cruising SoCal on his motorcycle.
Chism Brothers "body part":
The right hand to aid the project manager in getting the job done right.
Raul
For Raul, the best part of being a Chism Brothers Project Manager is making good friends with our clients and returning to their homes throughout the years. In nearly two decades with the company, his respectful, honest, hardworking character has earned the friendship and loyalty of many long-time customers. Raul enjoys taking on the challenging jobs that others don’t want, as well as helping the other painters “so that they can increase and hopefully be better than me some day!” He and his wife have three children, and he enjoys biking, swimming, listening to classical music, and listening to his favorite Christian radio programs.
Chism Brothers "body part":
A hand, because I like creating new things, new ideas to do the job.
Michael & Terry Chism
A gentleman in every respect, Michael is faithful, generous and thoughtful to his customers, his employees, and his family. He pauses before he reacts, trying to see all angles of a situation and all possible solutions. Driven by his love for God and his faith in His Word, Michael has a delightful commitment to his family and a very apparent and deep love for his wife. Outside of painting, he enjoys working out, biking, hiking, and all kinds of games, physical and mental. “We hire people based on their good character, and then we train them to be good craftsman.”
Terry Chism has been a vital part of the business “from the start, when we did all the paperwork without computers and answered the phones at home!” Cheerful and friendly, with a long-term, stable perspective on the company, she is thankful for our wonderful customers and wants to provide them the best experience possible. She is grateful to God for his grace towards Chism Brothers, but she is even more grateful for her husband, three children, and seven grandchildren. She loves swimming at the Y, bike-riding in Coronado, gardening, scrapbooking, and Bible-Study Fellowship. “I like being a part of Mike’s work, even if it’s a small time spent at the office. It gives me a better understanding of his day, his joys, and his challenges."
Chism Brothers "body part":
TERRY: I feel that I am most certainly the heart (along with my husband) to encourage and support him, listening to him. Also, some hands, helping Carolyn, our office manager to lighten her responsibilities.

Dave Olson was a pleasure to have here and did excellent work. We are very satisfied with the entire experience from start to finish.
-
We would like to give recognition to the outstanding job that Dave and Victor from Chism Brothers painting did on our stucco finished house detached garage and fence this spring. They worked diligently from first thing in the morning to late in the afternoon. They showed incredible attention to detail. Things like removing the hose reel when they painted the garage and then replacing it after they had painted that wall. The shrubbery next to the walls was carefully moved away and not touched by paint. After the job was completed they were meticulous in their attention to cleaning up. We were extremely pleased with the product and would recommend them, based on our experience with out hesitation.
-
After Troy had finished the job I was asked to fill out a questionnaire and gave thought to the questions one of which was what was it you liked most about the service. My answer was that I was not in any way disappointed, which in this day and age is really something. These guys were consummate professionals, tidy, polite and did and incredible job painting my home. I highly recommend them.

I was pleased with the timeliness and quality of the work performed as bid. Further, I'm impressed and grateful with the extra measures you provided to correct a problem that developed the saga of the warped door. I really appreciate the extra efforts and the cooperative and capable work of all your crew!
