Bold Dining Room Colors for 2011

Economic analysts are encouraged that the economy is finally showing signs of improvement. And with markets improving, consumer confidence has also started to improve. Many homeowners in La Jolla, San Diego, and nationally have observed the slumping housing market and have put home improvement projects on the back burner because of limited financial resources. But, with the economic improvement, now may be the time to consider an improvement to an often-overlooked room. The dining room is often the last to receive a makeover, and quickly becomes an “overflow” room for storage, and other household items. To begin the makeover process, consider your color choices. Bold, festive colors encourage family celebrations and create a welcoming atmosphere for dinner guests.

Color trends for 2011 are tending toward brighter and bolder. Reds and golds are great color choices for the dining room because they provide both a warmth and boldness. The tone of the red should be deeper with some purple undertones as opposed to a “fire-engine” or apple red. A crisp white trim will greatly accentuate the red and, to accent the red color even further, accessories should offer hues of gold, brown or black. Wrought iron lanterns and décor set off a deep red quite well.
The professional painters at Chism Brothers can answer questions about color choices and will assess painting needs in any room in your home. Winter is a great time to do some much-needed updates and to add that splash of color in an otherwise dreary room.
