Moisture is an enemy of your home, working its fingers into any cracks and crevices that it can find and then systematically making small problems bigger. That was the scenario we found when we were recently asked to complete an exterior repair and painting project for a century-old home in Mission Hills.
As you can see in the photo below, there was a major caulking and filler failure, allowing for moisture to creep in and begin rotting the siding.
One of our craftsmen, Bernie, cut four, one-inch-wide metal strips, then shaped them perfectly around the decayed corner. He secured them into place with galvanized finish nails, ensuring that these corner caps will be here for another century.
We then matched a paint to the existing exterior color, painted the new strips, and blended them into the home.
