It takes the right tools, time, and the right finish (paint). The best way to get furniture to look perfect is by using a spray machine, but that is sometimes not available to a homeowner. If you get the right brush, sand and prime properly and have good brush strokes, you can achieve pretty good results. In fact, some homeowners do prefer a brushed look as opposed to a sprayed finish!
