Las Patronas Jewel Ball and Chism Brothers 2011

Several painters from Chism Brothers Painting recently volunteered their time to paint backdrops for the 2011 Las Patronas Jewel Ball. The annual Jewel Ball began in 1946 and the Las Patronas organization uses this event to provide financial assistance to non-profit organizations in the La Jolla and the San Diego County areas. Through yearlong fundraising and the annual ball, Las Patronas has donated over 15 million to over one thousand organizations.

The backdrops created for each Jewel Ball mirror the selected theme for that year. They are carefully constructed, assembled and finally painted by countless volunteers over the course of the year. Chism Brothers has participated in this event for the past two decades and these volunteer painters embellish the elaborate backdrops with paint donated by local paint manufacturers. Past themes have included “Rhapsody in White,” “Wrapped in Moonlight,” “Silk and Spice,” which offered an elaborate oriental décor, and the 2010 theme, “Heart and Soul.”

Chism Brothers is pleased to provide volunteer hours each year toward this outstanding event and employees Veirnon, Victor and Troy graciously donated their time and talents this year. The money raised through this extravaganza stays in the San Diego County area. Organizations benefiting from the efforts of Las Patronas and the many volunteers who contribute time and talents, have included ARC of San Diego, the YMCA of San Diego County, the San Diego Food Bank Corporation and many others.
