Painting Conference in Portland OR

Mike Chism just returned from a week of vacation as well as a 4 day trip to Portland for a painting conference. He met up with his son, David Chism, to spend several days attending the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America's (PDCA) Residential Forum annual conference. The Residential Forum existing to help house painting companies in the United States run a professional painting business. They provide the tools and resources to make the business owner successful in customer service, products, tools, hiring key people and much more. Mike Chism is one of the founding members of the Residential Forum and past president. His son, David, is now an active member and board member and is carrying on the tradition of his father.

The conference this year was well received, even in a struggling economy. They had approximately 60 contractors and a few sponsors attend this years event. They were expecting quite a few less as early registration was quite low. Most of the paint contractors who attended were from the Northwestern United States, though a few contractors from Minnesota, Chicago, Kansas and even the east coast were in attendance. Next years Advanced Shop Talk (AST) as it is called, will be held in Charleston, South Carolina. They expect a larger turn out as there are more members on the east coast.

All in all, the Chism family was glad to have attended to conference as it gives them an opportunity to see what other professional paint companies are doing successfully in their own business.
