Hiring a Mover When Painting Your San Diego Home?

The question has come up quite a bit over the years when we are getting ready to repaint the entire interior of a client's home, "Who will move the furniture, wall art etc?" The answer is, "WE DO! The Painters!" A professional paint company can and typically does move furniture, blinds, wall decor etc. However, there is a cost to do this. It takes a lot of time to remove, re-install, move things around etc. This is why I will sometimes recommend that our customers consider hiring a professional moving company. Movers are not as expensive as you might thing. A good moving company is very efficient and has all the right equipment to move things the right way! This is something they do all the time. I've also found that when we finish a full interior repaint, customers want to redecorate and change the placement of wall art and furniture. This is another reason a moving company can help. They can move those big and difficult items like: entertainment systems, a piano, large pictures, couches and so on.

Back in 2008, I moved from a 3 bedroom condo to a 4 bedroom house with my little family. The cost to have movers do most of the work was around $1,100. I used Atlas Transfer and Storage, out of Poway. They were incredible! The pricing back then was for me boxing most items up. Yet it wasn't much more for them to do that too. If I was to do it again, I'd have them do everything. I was not aware at the time that they'd do all the work!

This is not to say that our employees are not careful when we move furniture and other household items. Just the opposite: we are extremely cautious. Yet for around the same cost or possibly a little more, professional movers can completely take everything out of the house, making our job a lot easier (having an empty interior). We can paint a home a lot more quickly (and just as good) when the home is void of furniture. Your belongings are safely stored during the project, which could take a week or more depending on the size of your home. When we are finished, the movers swiftly move everything back to where you wish it to be placed. They can even re-hang your pictures too!

Oh, I will also say that I'd go with a transfer and storage company, not just a mover. A transfer and storage company carefully boxes everything up and stores it is a safe storage unit until you are ready for it to be returned. A moving company will just box it up, put it in a big truck and drop it off wherever you'd like.

I have had a number of customers take advantage of my suggestion on a number of occasions and it has worked out quite well for both parties. If you need a good referral, check out Atlas Transfer and Storage ! My dad, Mike Chism, grew up with the owner. We've worked with them for many years! They are the best in town. They will also move you anywhere around the country. I've used them for that too!
