Thinking about updating your kitchen for 2024? You aren’t alone! Our services are in high demand right now here in San Diego.
As you weigh your options, you might be thinking that you really have two: a cabinet replacement/renovation, or cabinet painting. Both are fantastic! A remodel provides an opportunity to totally rethink and update your space, while cabinet painting lets you work with what you have, saving time and money while radically improving your style.
But your options don’t end there.
You can also refinish your cabinets, changing the stain color. This is the perfect choice if you prefer a more natural look, letting that wood grain shine through, but maybe you’re tired of a dated stain color and/or worn surfaces.
As a case in point, let’s dive into this cabinet refinishing project we just finished.
Your cabinets are a good candidate if they’re in decent condition overall (no major structural problems or damage), they meet your needs, and they’re worth investing in. This client’s kitchen in Chula Vista checked every box. Here’s a look at what we were working with…
Nice kitchen, plenty of storage, good layout… But the finish was a little dated for sure.
So, how do we refinish kitchen cabinets?
First, we get a close look at your kitchen, take measurements, and hear more about your goals.
Next, we provide a clear and detailed proposal. This includes exactly what’s involved, what you can expect, color specifications, and more.
Once everything is approved and officially launched, we carefully prepare the environment to protect your home and belongings.
Time for disassembly! Off come the doors and drawer faces. In this case, we saved time and transportation costs by setting up a refinishing station in the client’s garage.
All the surfaces are meticulously prepped to remove the old finish and make sure the wood is ready for the new.
As you click through the slideshow below, make sure to pause on the photos that show our stain-matching in progress. This process is both a science and an art, calling for skill, experience, and total consistency.
After the refinishing is done, everything is reinstalled and inspected before the final cleanup.\
