Cost vs. Value: Finding the Best Painting Company Is Priceless

December 19, 2018

When it comes time to repaint your house, you will probably do quite a lot of research on local painters. And, as the contractors bid on your project, there will probably be a few “sticker-shock” moments. Although your knee jerk response may be to hire the cheapest painter, will this give you the best value?

It’s easy to see the bottom dollar estimate, and equate that to the value of the project. However, value and cost often go hand in hand when it comes to painting.

Who are CBP’s customers? These people understand that value and cost go hand in hand.

  • Have busy, responsible lives, and want a painting contractor who will do a great job with minimal supervision.

  • Want their homes to look spectacular, and know that it takes a special contractor to achieve it.

  • Are not only concerned with the product, but with the customer service they receive.

  • Are discerning, and detail-oriented. They want a job well-done and appreciate good communication.

  • Care more about overall value than about the cheapest price.

What should you look for in a painter?

The internet is full of painting contractors. One click will give you a myriad of contact information. How do you filter through this information to find the contractor with the best value?

Fully Licensed and insured

When doing your research, one of the first things you should look for is whether or not the painter is licensed and insured. This shows that the painter is not only complying with local laws, but taking the time to provide a safe work environment for their employees.

In addition, the best painters will work hard to become professional members of various organizations. These memberships and accreditation shows that the painting company has taken the time to reach a set standard of professionalism.

Do they offer a guarantee?

As you browse through your estimates, look for warranties and guarantees. A hidden value that is hard to quantify is the guarantee that your painter is willing to offer. A painter’s work is only as good as their guarantee. Can they promise you that their work will withstand the test of time?

Safety first!

Job safety for the crew and for your family should be your painter’s number one focus. Do your research and figure out what safety practice the contractor has put in place to protect their team.

At CBP, we have implemented safety protocols to keep our team safe, and help your project progress efficiently. Some of these protocols include:

  • All employees will follow these safe practice rules, assist safe operations in every way you can, and report all unsafe conditions and practices to your supervisor.

  • All employees will be given frequent accident prevention instruction.

  • Make sure that all guards and other protective devices are in place and correctly adjusted, and report deficiencies promptly to the supervisor.

  • Plan ahead and be sure that adequate supervision is available when working with equipment or handling heavy loads.

  • Practice good housekeeping at all times.

  • Supervisors will hold regular safety meetings, which all employees will be required to attend.

Consistency

When you read through the letter that one of our satisfied customers sent to us, you will see a common theme - consistency. One of the most valuable assets when hiring a professional painter is their consistency. When your painter is prompt, on time every day, and puts a full day in, it will show that they truly care about getting the job done right.

After taking all of this into consideration, it’s easy to see why the cheapest option is not always the best option. Value goes far beyond the bottom dollar. When a contractor knows the value that they offer, chances are, they will not be the cheapest bid. However, they will be able to offer you the best value for your dollar. At the end of the day, this should be the goal when you are looking for a painter.
