A Closer Look At Dry Rot Repair in Carlsbad

Last Updated: March 31, 2016

Three small brown birds on a weathered, cracked, light-colored wooden surface, likely a tree stump.

Dry rot is one of those insidious issues that will start small, then sneakily grow larger and larger right under your nose (or feet). Before you know it, what was once a tiny problem has become a widespread headache, and what was once healthy wood has become totally compromised.

The key is to root it out like you have a grudge against it, thoroughly repairing the problem.

Would you like to see what this process looks like? Well, my friend, you’re in luck!

Complete Dry Rot Repair and Painting Caught On Film

Troy, one of our fantastic team members, made a brief video demonstrating a dry rot repair and painting project in Carlsbad. Grab your popcorn, dim the lights, and enjoy!

Just as a quick recap, here are the steps Troy took:

  • Dug out the infected wood
  • Applied a mildewcide and allowed it to dry
  • Applied wood hardener and mildew sealer
  • Patched and sanded
  • Applied another round of mildew sealer
  • Two coats of finish

The result is a total restoration, not just a coverup of the issue.
