Entry Door Refinishing in Mission Hills

Last Updated: June 30, 2014

Door Stripping and Refinishing Overview

This is a front door for a Mission Hills customer that we painted the entire exterior of the home for a few years ago. The bottom half was severely weathered and it disintegrated into powder when sanding (it had been over 15 years since the door was last refinished). Our foreman, Troy, worked on this refinishing project.

Door Refinishing Process

  • Troy strip-sanded the entire door, and since the top half wasn't as weathered it came out brighter than the bottom, even after bleaching the bottom.
  • After stripping, Troy brushed on 3 custom color blends of Cetol Door and Window Marine Varnish to bring the top and bottom to uniformity,
  • Next, he sanded and applied 2 more coats of the same product in clear varnish.
