Looking for an awesome way to update your kitchen without a full remodel?

After all, a remodel can be nice, but it’s not always necessary. Plus, it’s hugely expensive, time-consuming, and you have to live without your kitchen for weeks (even months) on end. That throws a wrench in your routine that most people can do without…

If you have good quality cabinets that meet your needs, professional cabinet painting can be a perfect option. And while it’s not cheap, it’s certainly more cost-effective than a remodel that can quickly add up to tens of thousands of dollars.

How about a real-life example? We recently painted these kitchen cabinets in beautiful Carmel Valley, San Diego. The ultimate goal was to create a brighter, more modern feel, turning the dark brown finish into a crisp, gleaming white. Click through the photos above to see the full transformation, but here's one of our favorite finished pics.

How Do You Paint Kitchen Cabinets?

  • First, we meet with you to establish your exact goals and expectations. We also use the time to gather data about your cabinets, including the project scope, condition, and existing finishes.
  • Next, we provide a clear, detailed estimate that includes a close look at the prep/repairs involved and the products we recommend.
  • Once your project is scheduled, we thoroughly prep the space. Cabinet doors and drawer faces are removed, the environment is masked, and we extensively clean/degrease the surfaces.
  • As needed, we strip and/or sand the existing finishes.
  • Next, we begin a careful sequence of priming, sanding, and applying topcoats. This is a labor-intensive process, but it allows us to build the beautiful, durable finish you’re looking for.
  • Once the cabinets are reassembled and the space is thoroughly cleaned, we’ll have a final walkthrough with you to make sure everything meets your expectations (and ours).
