Interior Paint Color Trends for 2016

Part of the fun of reaching the end of a new year is having the chance to peek around the corner into the next. We’re on the brink of a fresh, exciting start, full of motivation and focus.

It’s really the same for us in the world of interior painting! Every year there are new trends and popular picks that come along, ensuring that our work is always colorful.

Let’s not rush the new year (there’s plenty left to enjoy in this one), but at the same time we thought it might be helpful to catch a sneak peek at the direction that interior painting and color selection is headed.

Who knows? It might inspire your own project!

What Are the Popular Paint Colors of 2016?

Grey was one of the hottest (or should we say “coolest”?) options out there this past year. Everything from a pale, icy shade to stormy charcoals found a place in rooms ranging from the kitchen to the spare bathroom. Why? Well, it’s a versatile color, simultaneously classy and trendy, and can be dressed up or down depending on your decor.

Grey is still popular (never fear, grey-lovers), but it looks like we are going to lighten things up even more in 2016. Watch for very pale, calming colors, ranging from the extended family of white to extremely light blues and greens. Subdued colors that relax are predicted to be very, very popular.

What If You Are a Fan of Bold, Deep Interior Colors?

First, we would advise you to not be too influenced by trends. Yes, it can be fun to keep up with what is most popular and stylish (or use that information to get inspired), but at the end of the day you need to be comfortable in your home. Pick the colors you love, and don’t get bogged down in what’s trendy.

With that said, you can have the best of both worlds by adding bolder, brighter accent walls and design elements.
