Cabinet Painting and Beautiful Detail Work in Carlsbad

Last Updated: September 15, 2015

When it comes to choosing an interior paint scheme, there’s a general understanding that lighter colors make a space feel brighter and larger, while darker colors tend to close it in. You can put this rule to work for your particular project area, strategically shrinking and expanding your walls just by using the power of color.

The same is true for your kitchen. And, for most folks, a bright, clean look that accentuates size is the goal.

That is, in part, why painting kitchen cabinets is so popular. It’s a cost-effective way to do away with dark, tired stains, replacing them with a durable, fresh look. The result is stylish, effective, and the process is much less invasive than an entire cabinet replacement. What could be better?

A Closer Look at Cabinet Painting

In the slideshow above you’ll watch a transformation unfold in this Carlsbad home. There is a decent amount of natural light available, but the original dark cabinet color made this U-shaped kitchen feel tighter than it really is.

Our very own Victor led the charge with this project. He used a shellac-based primer from BIN as a starting point, then applied a final Break-Through finish in Off-White. This provided a hard, long-lasting coating that is ready to stand up to the wear and tear of a busy kitchen.

Applying a Pinstripe Glaze

For an extra dose of style and depth, Victor also added a dark grey pinstripe glaze. Putting his steady hand and true craftsmanship to work, this thin striping was brushed on with laser precision. Here’s a close-up look:
