“Las Patronas Paint Day” - A Cherished Chance To Give Back!

If you are familiar with the Chism Bros. Painting family and our deep history here in San Diego, you know that we love investing in the communities we call home. It has been a privilege to be so trusted by our clients, friends, and neighbors over the years, and we want to do all we can to show our gratitude and serve others well.

One of our favorite ways to do just that is to participate in the annual Las Patronas Paint Day, an event where we have the opportunity to give back to a group that gives all year along.

Las Patronas and the Jewel Ball

Founded in 1946, Las Patronas has dedicated itself to supporting philanthropic efforts throughout San Diego. Since then, over 17 million dollars has been donated to over 1,000 different local charities. And, the main event that has become a staple of charitable activity in San Diego is the dazzling annual Jewel Ball.

Each year the Jewel Ball is based on a different theme, and this theme is depicted through large pieces of artwork that are decorated off-site, and then transported to the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club.

This incredible gala requires countless hours of planning and preparation. It used to be that many of these hours were spent painting and preparing the large painted “flats” we just mentioned above; each one painted by hand with brush and roller.

Years ago, Mike Chism and his brother were introduced to the Las Patronas efforts and the Jewel Ball, and they quickly determined a valuable way that they could assist.

During our own annual event of sorts, the Chism Brothers team gathers at Las Patronas’ warehouse for the “Las Patronas Paint Day,” having a lot of fun while simultaneously saving them from hours of tedious painting. Using sprayers, we paint over 100 6’x12’ flats in just one morning!
