You also will never regret cataloguing cracks, perhaps even snapping a few photos for reference, just to help you track whether or not the damage is spreading, widening, etc...

One quick note that helps homeowners: it’s not just the size of the crack—it’s also the location. Cracks around windows, doors, and transitions (where different materials meet) can be a bigger deal because those areas are more likely to let water in if they open up, or if previous caulking has failed.

How Can You Protect Your Stucco Siding?

• Quickly address any damage – Hairline cracks might not pose an immediate threat, but larger points of damage or decay should be resolved right away. Otherwise you’re opening the door to moisture, mold, mildew, pests, and more.
  Helpful rule: if you’re seeing staining, soft spots, bubbling paint, or recurring discoloration after rain or sprinkler cycles, it’s worth having the area looked at—those can be early signs moisture is getting where it shouldn’t.

• Avoid exposure to moisture – On numerous occasions we’ve visited homes where sprinklers are set too close to the house, resulting in a perpetual exposure to moisture. This kind of sogginess isn’t doing your siding any favors, and can open the door to premature breakdown and weakening.
  If you only fix one thing this week, fix this. Re-aim sprinkler heads, shorten run time near walls, and make sure water isn’t constantly hitting the same section of stucco.

• Keep bushes and landscaping trimmed back.
  Plants rubbing against stucco can hold moisture, trap debris, and make it harder to notice new cracks forming. A little airflow goes a long way.

• Frequent cleaning – A gentle pressure washing will keep your stucco looking fantastic, and help to inhibit the growth of damaging mold and mildew as well.
  “Gentle” matters. Stucco can be damaged by overly aggressive pressure or the wrong nozzle angle. If you’re unsure, it’s safer to treat it like a surface you’re cleaning—not blasting.

• First, he removed all the loose stucco
• He then applied a stucco patch and acrylic bonder
• A blended finish was then achieved by floating the patches with a sponge float
• It was then time to prime and paint!

That “blend” step is one of the most overlooked parts of stucco repair. Anyone can slap on patch material—making it look right (and behave right) once it’s painted takes patience and experience. Proper priming also matters, because repairs can “flash” through finish paint if the surface porosity isn’t evened out.
