Kitchen Cabinet Painting in Rancho Santa Fe: Love This New Blue!
We recently wrote a blog featuring popular cabinet paint colors for 2022 (check it out if you haven’t yet). A lot of clients assume that either white or gray are their primary options, but we’re seeing a huge resurgence of interest in more vibrant colors. That’s not to say white and gray are out — far from it. They’re really as popular as ever.
Green and blue are hot on their heels, in part because of the sheer variety of shades and hues you have to pick from. One shade of blue, for example, could be classic country, while another is bold and modern.
The last kitchen we showcased is definitely brighter, so today let’s take a look at something a bit darker. This beautiful kitchen fit our client’s needs well, and was in good condition overall, but it was time for a new look. We helped transition from a stained finish to painted, and love how it all came together. Click through the photos above for the full perspective!
How do you paint kitchen cabinets in Rancho Santa Fe?
If you’re curious about how the process works, here’s the rundown:
- First, we come out and provide an estimate. Some Rancho Santa Fe homeowners ask why we can’t provide a ballpark quote, sometimes even saying they have an “ average kitchen,” so a guess-timate must be possible. The truth is, every kitchen is different. We factor in the materials, condition, quality, number of doors and drawers, existing finish, the kind of finish you’d like to achieve, plus take measurements of the space. We’re thorough so that we can be accurate — no surprises.
- We’ll then provide that estimate for you to review. No fuzzy details or fine print.
- Once approved, we’ll move forward with scheduling your project. In the meantime you’ll need to empty all those cabinets and drawers. Just remember: this is WAY easier and faster than a full pull/replace remodel!
- Next, we prep the space. Floor coverings, masking, total project containment… We know how to do it right.
- After prep, we begin disassembly, carefully removing cabinet doors and drawer faces. They’re labeled and organized for quick reference when it’s time to put everything back together.
- Time for the next phase of preparation, this time focusing on the surfaces. Degreasing, sanding, light repairs, more sanding, primer coats, more sanding, topcoats… You have to get this right for the best results.
- Once everything is painted, we bring it all back and reassemble.
- We’ll do a quick walkthrough, just to make sure you love how it all turned out.
Do you spray or brush cabinet doors?
We get this question a LOT , and it’s a good one. Different approaches can be used depending on the type and style of finish you want to achieve, but in most cases we spray the cabinet boxes, doors, and drawer faces. It’s fast and efficient, plus it provides a smooth, factory-like finish.
